hello I am Thomas Lamphere. I am a Professional fly tier and fisherman out of the Port Orchard, WA, USA. I love targeting coastal cutthroat trout. I have not found a trout that is as violet in a strike nor fight as hard. they do not get massive like browns and what not. my largest is 26in but the average is about 12-14in. 16-18 is not uncommon but higher than 18 in trophy. they are predatory towards streamers at 8in when they hit the salt water. also I love targeting salmon and steelhead in both the salt and rivers.
along with the salt I love fishing out local rivers for coastal cuts as well as wild rainbows. the lakes around here all have bass and a select few have tiger muskie. I love targeting them with a fly. in fact I fish everything with a fly. even catfish.
I have my mown business in the fly fishing industry. I tie commercially and my business is called Beach-Men. FB= Beach-Men Fly Tying. I tie and sell to a few shops and guides in the area as well as teach. I also am a big conservation guy. one thing I have been trying to push is the over fishing by our local tribes on each river. they have destroyed many of the salmon and steelhead runs and have no regard for the survival of the returning runs. the creek below my house used to get 20,000 salmon a year. now it is lucky to see 3000, and that is in total of 4 species.
