Drier weather is making for more consistent conditions on the Colorado, where the dry fly action has been very good. It’s Hopper/dropper season on the Colorado. Blue Wings are coming off on the cloudy/rainy afternoons. The Eagle is fishing best with small midge/beatis nymphs in the mornings then terrestrials in the afternoons into the evening Caddis hatch. The Roaring Fork river is also a favorite of our guide staff. The Fork is also a great Hopper/terrestrial river with a lot of public access. The Frying pan, Blue and Yampa Tailwaters are all in fishable condition as well. The local small creeks are all fishing great and offer a good reprieve from fishing the main rivers during the heat of the mid-day.

It’s the diversity of the Vail valley’s fishery that makes it so appealing. Also there is a very good amount of public access on most of the major rivers we fish. Among the most notable of the larger rivers that lend to both wade and float fishing we are really fortunate to the rivers in our back yard.
