Mississipi River

Got out to do some "for fun fishing" with my brother tonight. It was a great time, even with the river being high and muddy. We usually catch the August smallmouth on top water flies, but after having only one miss in a hour we switched to minnow imitations. We caught some and missed a few and then stumbled into the mother-load of smallies stacked up in a weird spot. A guy has got to get lucky once in awhile:). For August, the fished seemed sluggish and didn't want a fast bait, but that could be because the 4 inches of rain a few days ago and plenty of food already on their plates. We ended up doing pretty well for a quick couple hours! Even though my little brother out fished me ;).
