February means hot temperatures in North Patagonia. We flew there last month looking to visit some of the classic rivers in my dear Argentina. We started off on the Caleufu, walking for miles under the sun and casting to strong rainbow trout and fine browns as we enjoyed the gorgeous scenery.
Later on, we visited the Malleo and Chimehuin rivers outside the small but famed flyfishing town of Junín de los Andes. We caught a bunch of rainbows but also some heavy brown trout in its beautiful pools.
We then travelled all the way down to Cholila to fish the main rivers of central Patagonia: the Rivadavia and the Carrileufu, and some small streams as well.
