It's always a great day when your client catches a personal best fish...but when they catch TWO personal bests then that's an amazing day!!
There was some sporadic Sulphur hatching activity so I started Thao off with a size 16
Sulphur nymph on a "drop shot" nymphing set up. Within minutes Thao was hooked up and battling a huge Central Pa Brown trout. After an intense battle we had the fish in the net and Thao had her first personal best Brown Trout on the fly.
Thao continued her amazing day with several more chunky Brown and Rainbow Trout. I knew there were some lunker Rainbow Trout in this stream so I switched her Sulphur nymph out with an orange egg that we use quite often for Steelhead. Thao continued her amazing day with several more chunky Brown and Rainbow Trout. I knew there were some lunker Rainbow Trout in this stream so I switched her Sulphur nymph out with an orange egg that we use quite often for Steelhead. As if on queue Thaos' indicator dropped and she was locked into a tug of war battle with giant Rainbow. After several minutes of back and forth action Thao was able to subdue the big fish and we got it in the net. Thao now had her second personal best fish and to say she was ecstatic would be a huge understatement.
Thao shattered her wrist in a sporting accident 5 short months ago and had been unable to fish since. This trip was her first back since the injury and although still not 100% she toughed it out and came to Pa and kicked some fish butt!! We have nothing but respect and admiration for Thao and her tenacity and we are very lucky to have her as a friend! Huge Congrats Thao on a job well done!!
