had achieved something that went beyond the simple creation
of an artificial fly: I discovered that the CDC could be used in
a manner different from the conventional one and that this
realization could be the a starting point for the creation of
other imitations and the development of new methods of
assembly. Following a simple logical process, after the
Mirage, I created also a CDC version of the spent.

List of materials
Hook: Grub size 14/16/18
Thread: Pale brown 8/0
Tails and Body: A CDC hackle
Chest and wings: A CDC hackle.
Steps
Step 1
On a hook grub, I tie a CDC feather as I do when tie the
Mirage.
Step 2
With the same procedure, I tie another feather on top of the first one.
Step 3
Although there are now two hackles, I proceed as I did with
one hackle when tying The Mirage. I secure the base of the
two feathers next to the eye of the hook, after having pulled
back the CDC fibers.
Step 4
Trim off the excesses of the feathers.
Step 5
Flip forward the second extended body to divide the fibers
and obtain two horizontal spent wings.
Step 6
Trim off the excess of the feathers at the hook eye.
Step 7
Tie the head of the fly.
Step 8
Trim the tip of the feather, leaving two fibers on the sides to imitate the tails.
Step 9
Remove the fly off the vise, and holding the fibers I trim the excess to give the right dimension to the wings.
