Step 1
Draw a shape on the foam, its length should be two times the hook shank. The fly shown here is made on a 3/0 hook and the size of the foam is 5 cms long by 3,3 cms on its thicker part. The “V” is 2 cm deep.
Step 2
This picture shows the body, already cut. You can see how the edges of the “V” section are cut, with an inclination that is done inclining the scissors. Use long scissors instead of a cutter, to get a neat cut.
Step 3
Use cyanocrilate to attach the foam section and make a boat-shaped body. From its center to each side there must be around 3 cms.
Step 4
Tie a thick bundle of black Mirror Image or any other synthetic fiber that is not that hard. Leave some of the bundle towards the hook eye.
Step 5
Bend the bundle towards the back and tie it firmly, cementing it with some cianoacrylate.
Step 6
Tie another shorter bundle and bend it towards the back too. Again, place one bundle over the other, then bend it to the back. This way the Titanic Slider gets its shape.
Step 7
Make a hole on the body, small enough to fit only the hook eye. Insert the body. Add some cyanoacrilate on the inside of the hook and carefully stick the foam in a way that the hook remains in the center of the fly´s body. Make sure the body keeps its boat shape. Stick the body by applying some pressure on the hook but without pressing on the body.
Step 8
Finished fly.
