This article posted on TU.org about conserving and protecting native trout in the Southwest got me thinking about the attitudes toward native trout in my community. Sure, I do everything I can to share my passion for our native species and what they mean to the habitat and angler access to fisheries throughout the state. However, when I go through my presentation, I often get that sideways head tilt often used by dogs to convey confusion.

I feel like the word on native fish species is getting out and is growing. My experience with this same discussion of native plants seems to resinate with the audience much better.

How do you think the message of native fish is progressing? What story or analogy do you use?
