Gary LaFontaine, great fisherman and ingenious fly tyer, estimated by fly anglers of all the world, with the book "Caddisflies" made known his acute observations on the behavior of caddis and contributed significantly to the evolution of their imitations. The well-known Sparkle imitate a nymph caddis pupa that rises to the surface to get rid of his shuck, inside which were formed air bubbles. To imitate the shuck with its bubbles, LaFontaine created a pocket of Antron that enveloped the entire body of the nymph, then he tied at the head of fly a short wing consisting of a small bunch of deer hair. This fly is very effective for fish that feed on emerging caddis pupae and can be considered a milestone in the evolution of caddis imitations. Having made a version of the Sparkle Pupa with extended body, using materials indicated by LaFontaine, and being satisfied with the results obtained in fishing, I thought of creating a Sparkle Pupa extended body using the CDC.
