Broad Shad Cay Lodge is the Bahamas’ best place to hunt big fish. Built by hand by Andros Island fishing legend Andy Smith, the lodge is located on a private cay in the middle of North Bight. Access to the finest bonefishing flats in the world BSCL enjoys proximity to both the island’s east (permit) and west (tarpon) coasts – and, at any given moment, to the interior flats with the best tide, the best light and the most action.
Come to Broad Shad and fish a rising tide all day, with minimal run times and nothing in sight but untouched cays and interminable sky. Return to the lodge to appetizers, cocktails and boundless sunsets, on an island all your own, in the middle of bonefish heaven. Head guide Andy Smith and fishing coordinator the program basic on conditions.
Species
Barracuda, Bonefish, Jacks, Permit, Tarpon
Owing to its unique location in the middle of the flats, BSCL offers a saltwater flyfishing experience you simply can’t get anywhere else. For one, you can fish the rising tide all day– and hunt the big fish that follow it – from the moment you leave the dock. In fact, you might just catch one from the dock. Short boat runs mean a longer fishing day and the sense of solitude at BSCL is unbroken – it’s not uncommon to spend all day on the flats without seeing another soul.
Species: Bone fish, Tarpon, Permits, Barracuda, Snapper, Jacks and many more other species.
